Lot 273 | 2018 Green Valley of the Russian River Valley Chardonnay 750ml

Lot 273 | 2018 Green Valley of the Russian River Valley Chardonnay 750ml

$50/bottle under the original label

Lot 273 is part of a collection of shiners originally intended for another brand and another sales channel that I simply haven't gotten around to launching. Positioned for a much higher price point, these wines represent the best of the Lots that I sourced during the Summer 2020, just prior to the Napa fires.

It was to be priced in the $25-$30 range under my other label but sells for well-over $50/bottle under it original label and has multiple mid-90's scores from the major critics.

Classic, sophisticated, California-meets-Burgundy styling. This is an intricate, lush-yet-electric, perfectly-balanced wine that will convert just about any Chardonnay-skeptic. Produced from fruit sourced from the legendary Rued Vineyard (Rued is not the producer) and its interesting clonal mix of Old Wente and "chardonnay musque", this 100% barrel-fermented Chardonnay combines lushness and freshness with high-toned fruit aromas and exceptional mouthfeel. It is absolutely gorgeous.

Medium-deep straw in the glass. Crystalline and energetic on the nose with pretty orange blossom haloing tangerine, apricot, and kiwi fruit enriched with with lemon oil and hazelnut. Yin-yang gorgeous with fantastic sucosité on the palate with lychee, juicy tropical fruit leading to a complex, nervy, brilliant midpalate that explodes with mouthwatering meyer lemon, tangerine and Asian pear haloed with lingering layers of hazelnut and honeysuckle blossom. Tremendous persistence. Dyno-mite!
