Lot 101 | 2018 Walla Walla Cabernet Franc 750ml

Lot 101 | 2018 Walla Walla Cabernet Franc 750ml

Other than an 89 pt. blip in a particularly hot vintage, this wine has a 10-year run of consistently scoring between 91-93 points from the Wine Spectator. Granted, it was about 10-years ago and it looks like they stopped bothering once they had an audience for the wine. They continue to generate a lot of local press however with numerous Washington State press noting this bottling is considered one of the best Cabernet Franc's in Washington. Sourced from the producers estate vineyard just a stones throw from the legendary Seven Hills Vineyard, it sells out of the tasting room for around $40/bottle and yours today for just $15/bottle.

Dark garnet in the glass and showing fairly well with a few minutes of air having been bottled about two months ago (three by the time it gets to you). Classic notes of spicy cherry, red currant and beautifully perfumed florals are underpinned with dark earth, smoky oak and coffee bean. Lush, ripe blackberry, black cherry and plum notes on entry well supported by impeccable, tannins. Brighter cherry fruit mingles with smoky oak and graphitic, loamy tannins in a long, mouthwatering finish. The dichotomy between the higher-toned perfumed red fruits and the dark, savory notes is fantastic. This is a spectacular wine for $15/bottle.
