$60/bottle under the original label
From the same producer as N.51 and N.52 Cab Franc's, N.53 2018 Sonoma Mountain Merlot reflects the same ethos of low-alc elegance. Weighing in at 13.5%, this Merlot combines a terrifically fleshy structure and ripe fruit with freshness and grace. Retailing for over $55/bottle, its a steal at $20/bottle - this is a unique and compelling wine that will age nicely over the next 5-10 years.
Deep garnet with a medium ruby rim. Succulent and juicy yet elegant on the nose with loamy coffee bean/olive and raspberry preserves at first but quickly a crushed red rock, black cherry and dark plum emerge. Fantastic freshness. Soft on entry with a pristine mid-palate featuring juicy cherry and strawberry set against ripe, mineral-laden tannins. Long, pure finish of just fruit, there's little to no new oak influence.
Check-in tasting 6.12.21 - There are less than 40 cases of this left. Gorgeous, ethereal, elegant yet fully ripe and pretty as all get out. Little richer at 13.5% alc but seamless across the board. Along with the aforementioned Cabernet Francs, these unique offerings are an eye opener.
