94-Points, Platinum Medal
2021 Sommelier Challenge Wine Competition
High toned cherry fruit aroma is the calling card here, with a pleasant kirsch vibe keeping it right up front. On the palate is where the complexity show itself, with vanilla, brown spice and rich oak toast joining the cherry fruit. There’s solid structure – feel confident about aging this a while for full enjoyment. A Platinum Award winner at the 2021 Sommelier Challenge International Wine & Spirits Competition.
94-POINTS
From the same producer as N.155, N.156, and N.158, this phenomenal Pinot Noir hails from a legendary consulting winemaker working in a legendary vineyard (from which another producer just scored 100-points for their 2018).
All of the three wines have been bottled in the last month so my tasting notes will be cursory.
Sourced from the legendary Platt Vineyard on the Sonoma Coast just a few miles from the Pacific and renowned for its Burgundian qualities. Pale ruby in the glass...shy on the nose for now with a peek of red fruit and pretty perfume. The texture on the palate tells the story here, however, as this is beautifully structured wine with plenty of power and grace and huge, resounding length. Its all "sensation" at this point due to the bottle shock but its all there. Don't touch this until next year. Retails for well over $100/bottle.
100% Pinto Noir, 100% single-vineyard
60% new French oak
14.9% alc. (yes, high, but the wine is impeccably balanced)
