Here’s a spicy side Pinot Noir that pops with cinnamon and cardamom over lively cherry fruit that rides a wave of cool climate acidity through a zesty finish. It will sit well on a table of fish or fowl, and it will cut through a cream sauce effortlessly. A Platinum Award winner at the 2021 Sommelier Challenge International Wine & Spirits Competition. 94-POINTS Sep 28, 2021

Fleshy and racy with crystalline fruit, plenty of verve and native yeast suavage, Lot 176 2019 Russian River Pinot Noir strikes the perfect balance between the ripe/unctuous and leaner Sonoma Coast styles.

The source winemaker is a Burgundian maestro and has always been my favorite for striking just the right balance between California fruit and Burgundian nerve.

Lot 176 is sourced from a variety of top-quality Pinot Noir sites in the heart of the Russian River Valley and fermented on native yeasts (~30% whole cluster) and aged in 50% new French oak with monthly battonage. Again, no expense is spared here. The resulting wine threads the needle between ripeness and structure beautifully, delivering complexity, elegance, and concentration on a lithe, sinewy framework.

Priced between $50-$60/bottle, this wine scores, without fail, between 94- and 92-points with the major critics and is probably under-priced versus the marketplace. Pinot fans of all stripes, its time to back up the truck!

Medium garnet in the glass. Beautifully complex, balanced and layered aromas of dried rose petal, black cherry, dark earth, asian spice/ginger and a lovely bergamot tea halo that envelops it all. Air complexes the aromas further adding warm, flinty river rock, wild strawberry and a really cool, earthy layer of coastal river ravine that reminds me of the Mendocino's coastline, chock-full of verdant canopies and ferny, wooded glades. Silky smooth on the palate, medium-bodied with nuanced, delicate fruit dancing in crunchy, mouth-watering acidity and punctuated with fine French oak tannin. Damn fine wine here folks.
