Lot 130 | 2019 Napa Valley Chardonnay 750ml

Lot 130 | 2019 Napa Valley Chardonnay 750ml

This is about as terroir-driven as Chardonnay gets. From a cool, steep, hillside vineyard just east of Carneros and south of Coombsville at the southern end of Napa Valley, this Chardonnay sees no new oak. Beautifully expressive and extremely well-crafted, it weighs in at just 12.3% alc.

The 2019 bottling just received a mid-90's score from one of the more terroir-appreciative critics so, if you are a fan of crisp, mineral, Chablisienne-style Chardonnay (this is a very calcareous site), you won't to miss this highly allocated, $40-$50 retail offering now priced at just $20/bottle. Only 30 cases available.

Lovely, spicy bergamot, almond meat, and oyster shell perfume intermingles with ripe pear and apple with a kiss of nectarine. Expansive and open-knit on the palate with ample structure and chalky minerality leading to excellent mid-palate tension and energy. There's some richness there too but its still wrapped in baby fat so give this another year in bottle if you can. Should age nicely over the next decade.
