Lot 137 | 2019 Rhone White Blend 750ml

The Adelaida District lies west of highway 101 and Paso Robles and its rocky, calcareous soils, high-elevation and ocean proximity make it some the best terroir in the region. Today's release is a tiny little 100 case lot of Rhone white blend, 60% Grenache Blanc, 26% Picpoul, and 14% Viognier. Barrel-fermented in large puncheons and neutral barrels and then aged on the lees until July, this wine is brilliantly focused and expressive. $35 out of the tasting room.

Pale yellow in the glass. Lychee, pear, ginger and honeycomb dance with orange blossom and a diamond-like, crystalline minerality in a super pretty bouquet. White fruit and honeydew melon on entry melding with honeycomb and a blossomy retronasal blast in the finish. Schisty acidity provides tension and grip and elegance. Delicious but needs more time in the bottle to integrate fully. Try this in April.
