Lot 22 | 2018 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 750ml

Lot 22
2018 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Opaque in the glass with a hint of brick red. Rich, ripe plum and blackcurrant are nestled against acacia florals and crushed red rock. With air the nose opens up driving complexity to the fore with black cherry and dark clayey earth mingling nicely. The oak here is beautifully integrated, lifting the fruit and supporting the deeper registers but never out of place. On the palate, there's real fruit intensity and liveliness here that frames the red and black fruits and fleshes out the tannins in a long, resplendent finish.

Check-in tasting 6.23.21 - Initial pop of leather fades into the background as cassis and blackberry join the fray but at the end of the day this is still tight and unyielding. However, its huge on the palate, tooth staining and tightly wound. Don’t touch for another year.

deep, dark and delicious

"Another massive QPR winner from de Négoce. Give this a 24-hour decant (one hour in decanter, back in the bottle for another 23 hours or so) to experience this young cabernet in its most enjoyable current form. Has years of life ahead."

Succulent Mountain Fruits

"Bottle 1/6. With over 3.5 years in the bottle, I still decided to do a 24 hour decant. Good decision, this 2018 CS will continue to improve for several years. Slightly muted nose at first, opening up to reveal very succulent mountain fruits! Firm acidity that is deliciously balanced with plenty of French Oak. I’m in no hurry to guzzle the remaining bottles, this will get even more awesome with additional cellar time. It’s double yummy now with a long decant 🍷🍷!! Scott with Beef Ribz 😋 2/18/2024"
