Each flight includes 2 bottles each of the following:
Lot 419 | 2022 Moon Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
"Opening with cassis, eucalyptus, red fruits, and crushed florals haloed by vanilla blossoms and caramel, the entry is terroir-driven with leather and excellently delineated fruit from the nose backed by barrel-influenced spice amongst perfectly integrated tannins framed by deftly balanced acidity - the structure here is undeniable with incredible concentration. The finish is long, resonating with red fruits and spice shifting to a violet and vanilla umami that carries on and on over delicate red berries. Under proper cellar conditions, this wine has the spine to age gracefully for decades to come, however, once through bottle shock in a few months, a healthy decant will still reward the impatient amongst us."
Lot 434 | 2022 Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir
"The wine opens with a captivating bouquet that seamlessly interweaves cherries, cola, cinnamon, and clove. Hints of brown sugar and truffle lend an air of refinement, haloed by potting soil and tobacco leaf. The palate is lively, showing a medium+ cranberry-like acidity and small, grippy, perfectly integrated tannins framing additional cherries and wild blueberry. The exit is vanilla-flecked with refined cooperage barrel spice, with a delicate interplay of cherry and mushroom umami underscored by the lingering presence of fresh-sliced vanilla beans. A beautiful showcase of the artistry of its makers."
2019 Eleveur Volnay Vieilles Vignes le Village Rouge
"Opening with mushrooms, hibiscus, cinnamon, and cherries haloed by violets on the nose, there’s plenty of both intensity and elegance on display. The entry cascades onto the palate with ripely-fruited red berries, fresh-turned potting soil, and cloves framed by balanced acidity and small, grippy tannins. A clean, dry, medium-length finish is uplifted with red fruits and florals wrapped in barrel-influenced, delicate vanilla. Though approachable now with a decant, this beauty will be singing through a decade+ drinking window."
2020 Castillo Labastida Manuel Quintano Los Herreros Rioja Alavesa
"Still a baby, this one benefits from a bit of air today (cellaring down is the recommendation here for the best in the future) showing pungent oak and monolithic fruit. The complexity emerges on the open palate bringing in black peppercorns and piquant red fruits surrounded by new leather against deftly interwoven acidity. The finish is still emerging, but not without great length and depth, with the best still yet to come."
2018 Castillo Labastida Manuel Quintano El Sauco Rioja Alavesa
"Deep, dark garnet on the pour, a broad fruit spectrum is wide across the (still) youthful bouquet (it is a 2018 after all, crazy!) framed by a new wood, no-expense-spared profile. Just as broad and long on the palate, with incredible, rich and dense depth, the graphite is just beginning to emerge amidst deep blackberry jam and vanilla blossom flavors. The finish is long and resonant with cherry-spiked oak spices. The best is yet to come from this bottle, give it a good 24-48 hour decant now to see the potential!"
2017 La Roncaia DOCG Colli Orientali del Friuli Picolit 375ml
"Beautifully golden on the pour with long, well distributed legs, the nose is rich and complex with dried apricots, pecan praline, mango, almond, and German chamomile. The entry is coating without being overly viscous, and anything but cloyingly sweet; best described as a symphony of taste: everything from the nose is activated on the palate against perfectly integrated acidity, introducing chestnuts and deeper stone fruit tones. The finish is long, also not cloyingly sweet, playing up the dried mango, chestnut, and apricot notes."
