Light, crisp, and endlessly refreshing, it’s no wonder Pinot Grigio is the #3 selling single varietal in the country (behind only Cab and Chard). While the industry is currently seeing red all over the board, Pinot Grigio is actually achieving significant growth. However, with greater popularity comes a greater need for discerning curation of the good stuff – that’s where we come in, of course. Given how quickly we sell through our Pinot Grigio finds, this list certainly won’t need extra convincing – especially when it’s a star offering for barely $13/bottle.
By all indication, Carneros' 2024 crop was textbook top quality. A very wet winter set the season up for success, developing robust canopies that provided natural protection from the summer heat. Full physiological ripeness followed, allowing for incredible depth of flavor. With a bounty this good we can afford to be extra picky, and among a slew of top-class contenders, we zeroed in on one that impressed more than all the others.
Lot 566 is a 100% single-vineyard Pinot Grigio from a stalwart Napa estate that also has choice holdings in Carneros. A modern California-style expression as refreshing as it is sophisticated, its balance is achieved through a combination of perfect cool climate terroir and deft minimal-intervention craftsmanship. This beauty never touched oak, aging in stainless steel to preserve its minerality and let the fruit shine. Sold direct from the source for $35/bottle, we worked our magic and closed the deal for you at a fraction of the price!

The clay soils and windswept vineyards of Carneros are some of the finest for Pinot Grigio in America, with a strong focus on quality over quantity – the good stuff here doesn’t sniff mass market availability. The cooling fog provides a backdrop for one of the longest growing seasons in wine country, where grapes ripen at a glacial pace and are able to retain gobs of vibrant acidity. Our source hand-picks at night to preserve the ideal balance of acidity to sugar, then immediately whole-cluster presses. After cold fermentation in small stainless steel tanks, the wine was aged for a few months sur lie to round out the palate.
Expressive and bright on the nose, it emerges from the glass with notes of elderflower, lime zest, almond paste, and tropical fruits, all haloed by wet stone and herbs. On the palate, bright acidity accentuates apples, lime, white peach, and florals with expertly weighted texture and a dry presentation. The finish gives a perfect touch of lingering spice, deftly interwoven with additional citrus and florals on a medium-length, exceptionally clean exit. A crowd favorite.
