92-POINTS, GOLD MEDAL
2021 SOMMELIERS CHALLENGE WINE COMPETITION

From the same producer as N.24 Pinot Noir, N.23 Chardonnay is sourced from one of the most northeastern vineyards in the rolling hills of Napa Carneros that eventually become the Mayacamas range and Mt. Veeder. This is great dirt and about as good as it gets for the region.

From 25-to 40+-year-old vines, whole cluster pressed and 100% barrel fermented in 30-35% new French oak, this beautiful Chardonnay combines vibrant fruit and toasty oak with refined elegance. Partial 25-30% malolactic fermentation adds creaminess without being overbearing.

Gorgeous aromas of spicy pear, pineapple and succulent blossom overlay wet stone and deeper elements of ripe fig and toasty oak. Clean and bright on entry with pretty notes of baked apple and lemon/lime, its finishes with palate coating weight balanced against mineral spice. The harmony of acidity and voluminous fruit here is spectacular. At $16/bottle equivalent versus $35, its phenomenal.
